Bill and Joanne Henkel
On May 1, 1974 Bill and Joanne Henkel purchased their home at the corner of Hess
and Jackson Street. Over the past 27 years, Bill and Joanne have been steadfast
reminders of what it takes to build a caring community of friends and neighbors.

……unwavering generosity
……respect for every neighbor, even when opinions differ
……and an even-keeled sense that we're all in this for the long haul
This section of the OHDS web site has been created as a living history of
our collective gratitude and best wishes for Bill and Joanne, who moved to Grand
Rapids, Michigan in July 2001.

A Word of Thanks from Bill and Joanne
Saturday, July 21, 2001
To our Oregon Family:
Bill and I are slowly getting settled in our new home. This is a drastic change in life style,
but a necessary one. I don't think we will ever be able to thank everyone for the wonderful farewell.
You will never know how much those kind words and gestures meant to us. We have memories to cherish
forever. We truly left a family in Oregon! Love to all, we miss you.
